Voicebox Cafés

Posted on the 14th September 2018

Voicebox Cafés are taking place in 36 Online Centres, celebrating 100 years of some women getting the right to vote. Using session plans and resources on Learn My Way, Voicebox Cafés provide a supportive and informal place where women can build their own and each other’s confidence in speaking out on issues that matter to them, discovering how to use their democratic voice to the full.

Throughout our journey we are charting our story using #VoiceboxCafes on Twitter and recording the latest happenings on our #VoiceBoxCafes Tumblr as we go along. It’s been great to see the ongoing impact in local communities, including online campaigns being raised by participants themselves such as Niamh and Isabella

(@Halpin_NiamhX & @IsabellaRubyy) in Manchester, raising funds to donate products to local girls in Tameside to prevent period poverty.

In the centenary year of some women getting the right to vote, we all still have a part to play in creating a society where women’s voices are heard. Voicebox Cafés aim to do just that.
